Listen to the call of a Black Drongo recorded at Farm for Change on August 14, 2024.

The Black Drongo (Dicrurus macrocercus), or 大卷尾, is an insectivorous bird native to Taiwan, Southeast and South Asia. On the farm, we observed it perching on different plants, the water tower, and the roof, looking out for insects.

We recorded most Black Drongo calls between 6:00~8:00, 15:00~16:00, and 18:00~19:00.

The spectrogram shows how the frequency of the call varies over time. In order to show the shape of the sound more clearly, on the postcard we used a spectrogram from this recording of the Black Drongo instead.
