About us

Founded in May 2022, the Farm for Change: Climate, Eco-poetics, Earth Justice (FFC) unit of the Institute of European and American Studies, Academia Sinica, is an interdisciplinary research hub that aims to cultivate and mobilize academic and grassroots partnerships to confront the unjust and disruptive economic, social, political, and cultural regimes and everyday mores that have resulted in climate change and the Anthropocene. Dwelling locally but writing, theorizing, and acting on a planetary level, we invest ourselves in academic research and re-worlding practices of communication and action, such as teaching, podcasting, community farming, and op-ed writing. FFC seeks to confront de-worlding environmental forces and promote world-making and care-giving ethos and tactics. We are interested in environmental policies and disputes, the relationship between poetics and cultures, and ethics and tactics. Issues of interest include: climate-change diplomacy and politics, US-China-EU climate change cooperation and competition to the Green New Deal, Net Zero, de-growth, organic agriculture, animal rights, and mindfulness culture. We aim to pay special attention to re-worlding tactics and coalitions that can bring about change, in and across the region.
