Huang-hua Chen is Associate Professor of Foreign Languages and Literature at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. His research focuses on the eighteenth-century epistolary novel, its Gothic afterlives, and East Asian epistolary cultures. His current work pursues two related strands: (1) examining how contemporary East Asian letter-writing mobilizes mistranslation, minor languages, and belated correspondence to rethink colonial memory and literary form; and (2) theorizing agrarian temporality as a mode of belated correspondence that reconfigures care as a sustained ethical practice, with particular attention to writers such as Rachel Carson and Liu Ka-shiang.
