Hsin-Yuan Peng
I am a Harper-Schmidt Fellow in the Society of Fellows and a Collegiate Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago, where I teach Media Aesthetics. My research examines scientific visualizations of the atmosphere from an environmental media perspective. Currently, I am working on my monograph, Cinematic Meteorology: Aesthetics and Epistemology of Weather Images, which traces a transpacific history of meteorological filmmaking across Japan and the United States to rethink cinema as an atmospheric medium. In my free time, I enjoy watching clouds, painting landscapes, and cooking with fresh herbs.
