Chung-Hao Richard Ku

Visiting date: 2024.08–2024.12

Chung-Hao was born and raised in Tainan. His childhood memories are intertwined with plants—his grandparents’ awning was draped in bougainvillea, while his home garden was once bordered by loofah, chili peppers, basil, and a tangle of hydroponic growth. He teaches in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. His research interests include American literature, queer and transgender studies, and the entanglements of plants and gender/sexuality. He is currently completing a book manuscript that explores how transatlantic modern literature rewrites anthropocentric discourses of sex, gender, and sexuality through plant life and other more-than-human matter.
